あぶなく【危なく】

(very) nearly do; 《be》 on the point of doing; 《be》 in imminent danger of doing; come near doing; (only) just miss [escape] doing. [⇒あやうく]

●危なく自動車にひかれるところだった. I was nearly [only just escaped being] run over by a car.

・危なく列車に乗り遅れるところだった. I almost missed the train. | I only just managed to catch the train.

・危なく溺死するところだった. I was very nearly [came near being] drowned.
